First wave of acts revealed for this weekend's digital St Pauls Carnival
Posted on: 03 Jul 2020Organisers have confirmed the first wave of acts set to perform as part of the first-ever digital Carnival.
Following two busy weeks of fringe events, the St Pauls Carnival team are gearing up for the main event of their first-ever digital celebration, Spirit Up! United at Home.
With the traditional Carnival sadly cancelled due to the coronavirus crisis, this year's celebration of community, culture and Afro-Caribbean history will be broadcast to homes across Bristol on Saturday 4 July.
On Opening duties this year will be community activist, educator and broadcaster Jendayi Serwah alongside instrumentalist and storyteller //Kabbo Hue Ferdinand.
Organisers have also confirmed part of the musical lineup for Carnival Day, with Ujima Radio's Angel Mel and Bandyt, Bristol-based audio-visual artist DJ Panther Panther, prolific radio DJ Selecta Watson and Code of the Streets founder DJ Style.
With more artists and performers still to be announced, you can stream the full party, from start to finish, for free on Twitch.
Alternatively, you can register here to join the Carnival's all-day Zoom Party, with limited spaces available.

With this year's event taking place solely online, the St Pauls Carnival CIC are raising money to support their year-round education and community programmes, and to safeguard the future of the Carnival.
Organisers have launched a crowdfunder, with almost a third of its £5,000 target raised so far.
For a £20 donation, you'll be sent a Carnival wristband and an exclusive t-shirt in the size and colour of your choice.
If you've enjoyed any of the events in the Spirit Up! United at Home programme so far, or you're planning on celebrating Carnival with your friends or family at home this weekend, we urge you to consider donating to help secure the future of the event.
2/2 If you have enjoyed any of our Fringe Events and want to support Carnival, please please head to our Crowdfunder and pledge what you can...the money you donate keeps us going and supports our year-long outreach programme with Bristol schools. https://t.co/XfzYs0HD2S

Organisers, artists and the Bristol public might not be able to celebrate the Carnival in full this year, but the team have worked to curate an unmissable digital celebration of history, culture and community in its place.
