Bristol Hippodrome suspends all performances until early August

Posted on: 04 Jun 2020

The extended suspension will impact a range of performances, including Jimmy Carr live and Dreamboys.

Back in April, the Bristol Hippodrome announced that all its performances would be suspended until 31 May at the earliest, due to the outbreak of the coronavirus.

The theatre later extended the suspension until late June, and the team took to social media again yesterday (Wednesday 3 June) to confirm that the closure would be extended once more, with performances now suspended until Sunday 2 August at the earliest.

In a statement posted on Facebook, the Hippodrome outlined refund procedures and expressed its thanks to fans and ticket holders. “Due to COVID-19, we are sorry to confirm that all performances at Ambassador Theatre Group venues across the UK have been suspended until Sunday 2 August," they said.

In the statement, the Bristol Hippodrome also provides information for ticket holders: “If you have made a booking that is affected by this suspension, you do not need to do anything.

“We are currently contacting people whose original tickets were for performances up to 31 May and handling all requests and enquiries for those customers. Over the next two weeks, we will be contacting customers beyond that date.

“If we have successfully rescheduled a production, you will be automatically moved into the new dates and contacted directly with all the details.

“All customers for shows that have been postponed (i.e. they have not yet been rescheduled) will be issued with a full credit voucher, including all fees, valid until the end of December 2021.

“Full credit vouchers or refunds are available for all cancelled shows. For further details, please go to https://www.atgtickets.com/coronavirus-info/.”

Some performances impacted by the pandemic so far, including hit musical We Will Rock You, have been successfully rescheduled.

The Bristol Hippodrome also thanked fans of the venue and ticket holders for their support in these difficult times:

“On behalf of all our staff, backstage crews, front of house teams, actors, dancers, musicians, and the entire British theatre industry we want to thank you as we work together to ensure the future success of our industry.”

“As you can imagine, we have a large number of customers that we are assisting, so we ask that you please bear with us. Your patience is greatly appreciated at this time.”
