Boston Tea Party’s Gloucester Road cafe reopens

Posted on: 28 May 2020

The no single-use coffee cup café chain says it's possible to stay safe and save the planet with their new Contactless Coffee service.

Today's the day: Boston Tea Party's Gloucester Road joint is back open for business.

Like many in Bristol, the cafe chain took a temporary hiatus several weeks ago in response to increased lockdown measures.

But now they're back, with a trail reopening of one of their Bristol stores (Gloucester Road), and one in Birmingham.

Boston Tea PartyIn total, BTP has 23 cafes across the West Country and the Midlands.

From today, customers will be able to Click & Collect food and coffee with the chain's new Contactless Coffee service.

As a way of upholding their single-use coffee cup ban, which the chain introduced in 2017, Boston's Contactless Coffee initiative enables customers to purchase coffee with reusable cups.

So how does it work? BTP is only accepting orders via its Click & Collect service.

Once you've placed your order, and selected your desired pick up time, you can take your (clean!) reusable cup to BTP on Gloucester Road and place it in the allotted spot. Remember to keep hold of your lid.

Then, a BTP barista will pour your hot drink without touching the cup and step away.

As well as contactless coffee, BTP is serving loads of its menu favourites, including breakfast and brunch dishes, burgers and cakes. Take a look.

In a blog post, the BTP team have also explained how they plan to keep customers and staff safe. Read about BTP's social distancing measures here
