How you can support The Arcade’s independent businesses during lockdown

Posted on: 02 Apr 2020

A Grade II listed shopping arcade in the heart of Bristol, The Arcade is home to several local, independent businesses.

But as the Coronavirus pandemic continues, The Arcade’s independents have had to establish new ways to keep their businesses booming.

To keep their shoppers safe, businesses have established a range of new services and online portals.

Here’s how a handful of The Arcade’s businesses are dealing with the crisis, and how you can support them.

Shop online

Did you know? You can buy goods from Sobey'sIllustrateSilver Scene and Card Shack online.

Even better, the likes of Illustrate are offering free UK shipping on all orders over £10 with the code 'FREEPOSTUK'.

Get involved on social media

Kids' hair specialists EK Hair have been active on social media during lockdown, posting live tutorials, testimonials, tips and tricks. Check them out on Facebook to get involved.

EK Hair is also offering contactless local delivery of Tangle Teezers, to help keep the kids’ hair tidy under lockdown. Want one? Send the team a message on Facebook to find out more.

Follow Gallery du 808's Facebook page too, and familiarise yourself with some of Bristol's most exciting emerging artists and creators.

Make advance bookings

No one knows when this will all blow over, but for beauty salons and other businesses that rely on appointments, every day spent closed is a huge loss.

Advance bookings are a huge helping hand in times like these, so get in touch with Kelly's NailsBeauty Zone or Maya's Eyebrows to spruce yourself up once it's safe for these independents to open their doors again.

Treat yourself to a takeaway

The Arcade is home to a brillant collection of cafes, restaurants and eateries.

So, why not treat yourself to an Arcade takeaway during lockdown?

Be sure to check in with Taste of Napoli, Wok Boxstix and Rollin Vietnamese on Facebook to find out more about their local delivery services.

Get in touch for advice

Whether it's Mabz' award-winning key cutting service, Needle & Thread's tailoring expertise or Techtock Mobile's tech knowledge, rest assured you'll find the top-notch advice from the The Arcade's independents.

Whilst shops of the three outlets mentioned above are currently closed, you can still contact their teams for solid advice.

Get in touch with Mabz on 0117 922 6286, Needle & Thread on 0117 329 8816 or Techtock on 0117 930 4515.
