Lavish, romantic musical theatre: The King and I has enjoyed sold-out runs on Broadway and at the world-famous London Palladium and Tokyo Theatre Orb.

The award-winning production is set in 1860s Bangkok and tells the story of the unconventional relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British school teacher.

The King, who lives in an imperialist world, brings Anna to Bangkok to teach his many wives and children.

Featuring a cast of over fifty world-class performers, a full-scale orchestra and classic songs, The King and I has secured multiple Tony Awards, including Best Musical Revival.

The international tour will see Annalene Beechey perform as Anna, fresh from her West End successes, while Darren Lee will reprise his role as The King from his successful U.S. performances.

Speaking about the upcoming tour, Darren said: “After playing the King all over the USA this role has such a special place in my heart, so to be able to tour the beautiful UK and see so many of your incredible cities like Bristol is really exciting for me.”

Described as ”spellbinding” by the Financial Times and ”ravishing” by the Daily Telegraph, this is a production not to miss.
