Bristol singer-songwriter Robi Mitch releases debut EP, Our Year

Posted on: 11 Dec 2019

The well-travelled musician takes inspiration from around the world on his debut release.

Released this month via Resplendent Records, Robi Mitch's Our Year is a nostalgic exploration of the euphoric highs of summer 2018.

With the UK in the midst of a heatwave, England on the cusp of World Cup glory and an overwhelming sense of optimism sweeping across the country, the tracks depict the bittersweet realisation that, of course, the feeling couldn't last.

Robi Mitch's Our Year is out now.

Opening with the longing indie track 'Miss', the EP is reminiscent of the likes of Mac Demarco and Jack Johnson, combining longing lyricism with smooth melodies to create a warm, subtly emotional sound.

The four-track release has already received rave reviews from several sections of the music press, with BBC Introducing's Richard Pitt describing title track 'Our Year' as "amazing" and Angus Harrison of VICE noting that Mitch "captures the transformative power of imagination in the face of disappointment."

Having toured in Asia, America, across Europe and at home in the UK, Robi Mitch has settled once again in his hometown of Bristol. Recorded by Mitch in his basement studio, Our Year features bassist Liam Owen on 'Miss', 'Ghost' and 'Our Year', and drummer Mike Griffiths throughout.

Our Year, Robi Mitch's debut EP, is out now and available to stream on Soundcloud and Spotify. For more information or to keep up with future releases, check out Mitch's Facebook page.
