Festival of the Future City returns to Bristol this month

Posted on: 10 Oct 2019

What would radical cities do today? Is there a role for cities in making democracy work for all? What can the great city builders of the past teach us about cities now?

These are some of the questions that'll be explored at Festival of the Future City. Between 16 to 18 October, the festival will return to Bristol for the third time.

Packed with talks, panel discussions and debates, the three-day event aims at creating a public discussion about the future of cities. Catch politicians, journalists, filmmakers, charities and more try to find the answers to many of the prescient issues facing contemporary cities.

Some events will take place at the Watershed Some events will take place at the Watershed.

On Wednesday 16 October, enjoy a programme based around ‘Big City Thinking.’ At Spike Island, learn about the impact women had on Bauhaus or at the Watershed, hear about how the city builders of the past might be able to teach us a thing or two today.

Later in the week, hear about The Future Green City and democracy. On Thursday 17 October, head to the Watershed to hear a panel discussion answering questions like: How can we get citizens engaged in their city?
