Bristol's Trinity Centre has been confirmed as the venue for Adblock Bristol's latest event, a Fighting for Ad-Free Cities national anti-advertising conference on Saturday 26th October.

Adblock Bristol's Fighting for Ad-Free Cities conference // 26th October 2019.

Hosted by Adblock Bristol, the conference invites practitioners and experts in the field to share tactics and creative strategies for creating happier and healthier cities, free from corporate advertising.

For decades artists, residents, parents, health campaigners, feminists and environmentalists have taken action against outdoor advertising billboards for corporate marketing messages.

Creative takeovers by street artists have drawn attention to the absurdity of commercial advertising as well as opening up space for marginalised voices and, more recently in Bristol, community campaigns are making real traction in pushing back and opposing the instalment of new digital billboards.

The Fighting for Ad-Free Cities National Conference invites a number of speakers to discuss the issue and how to combat increasingly intrusive outdoor corporate advertising, including French campaigners on how they turned Grenoble into Europe's first ad-free city in 2014.

Kicking off at 10 am at Trinity Centre on Saturday 26th October, the event will run until 6 pm. You can find a full schedule for the day here, or to find out more or get involved with Adblock Bristol, contact the team via email.
