In these exclusive walking tours of Bristol docks, new information from Jamaica about Blackbeard will be revealed as walkers visit some iconic dockside hostelries along the way. It’s believed that Edward Teach, aka Blackbeard, was born in Bristol in the 1680s. Though there are no records to prove this for sure, new information from Jamaica supports this hunch, and even fills in some of the missing details of his life.

The findings are incredible; it’s now thought that Blackbeard spread a fake identity to terrorize his enemies into early surrender! But you’ll have to join one of the recently added tours to find out more, of course.

Walking tours will start at The Golden Guinea in Redcliffe and end close to Bristol City Centre. Walks last around two and a half hours, and will visit dockside hostelries and landmarks along the way. Advanced booking required!

Tours are at 3pm on Saturday afternoons with additional Wednesday night walks in August at 7pm. To find out more, visit the website.

The Golden Guinea is located at 19 Guinea St, Bristol BS1 6SX.
