The Bath Festival from Friday 17th until Sunday 26th May 2019

The Bath Festival returns to the city this year with another hugely diverse and exciting programme of events from Friday 17th until Sunday 26th May 2019.

A glorious celebration of music and literature, this massively popular multi-arts festival has a roster of authors, musicians, celebrities, poets, writers, composers and even an ex-politician (they just can't help themselves, can they?) that will make it bigger and better than previous incarnations. Bath will be buzzing with life as a whole slew of events, talks, workshops and performances immerse and engage the community at a variety of venues with an action-packed week music and literature lovers simply won't want to miss. And with more than 120 events spread across ten days, we're pretty sure there will be something to spark everyone's interest.

So, just to whet your whistle with a few top names tipping up to treat the masses with insightful stories, witty anecdotes, perceptive commentary and blistering tunes, you can expect to see comedian Jo Brand, ballet dancer Dame Darcy Bussell, chat show legend Sir Michael Parkinson, popular DJ Sara Cox, poets Pam Ayres and Simon Armitage, Bake Off doyenne Prue Leith, and historian Neil Oliver.

Music-wise, it'll kick off in showbiz style on Friday 17th with The Magic of the Musicals, followed over the course of the festival by Mark Kermode (yep, that bequiffed film critic) and skiffle/rockabilly band The Dodge Brothers, film composer Richard Rodney Bennett, and minimalist legend Brian Eno, to name a few.
Also on the Friday 17th festival launch day will be the phenomenal Party in the City; Bath's biggest night of free entertainment which will incorporate a whopping 2,000-plus performers across more than 30 venues and 3 outdoor arenas. The line-up will be announced soon, but as far as parties go, this one is guaranteed to be an absolute belter.

This is just the tip of the literary and musical iceberg though. Take it from us, there's a LOT more to sink your teeth in to and loads more big names, popular celebrities, exceptional scribes and cracking tunesmiths making up the programme of this awesome 10-day celebration.
