Hen and Chicken to host Playhouse Creatures from Tuesday 5th-Thursday 7th March

Posted on: 25 Feb 2019

Three real-life female pioneers of English theatre will get the production (and recognition) they deserve when Playhouse Creatures perform at Hen and Chicken in Bristol from Tuesday 5th to Thursday 7th March 2019.

Set in London in 1669, with the theatre's doors swung wide open again and with, for the first time, women allowed to act on stage, the play explores the story of Nell Gwynn and a trio of other actresses flying the flag for women's rights and equality in a predominantly man's world.

It's funny, it's peppered with pathos, and it's a little bit sweary (so probably not suitable for youngsters). Proudly championing the first female powerhouses of England's theatrical world, this promises to be a historical, amusing, enlightening and empowering piece of theatre.

Shows start on all three nights at 7.30pm.  Tickets cost £9.50/£7.50 and can be purchased here. Hen and Chicken is located at 210 North Street, Bristol, BS3 1JF - contact the venue on Tel. 0117 9772882 for more information.
