Ruts DC to play album anniversary tour at Bristol’s Thekla on 27 February 2019

Ruts DC were responsible for the iconic punk album, The Crack. A raucous and then-innovative blend of punk and reggae, the 1979 release proved a refreshing addition to the punk scene, which saw its first wave dissipating.
Twelve power-packed songs brimming with invention and energy, it featured an extraordinary run of hit singles – ‘Babylon’s Burning’, ‘Something That I Said’ and ‘Jah War’ – alongside some of the best-adrenalised rock music to emerge in the decade’s closing. Unsurprisingly, Henry Rollins frequently refers to The Crack as the “best album ever made.”
Forty years on, the band are back together to celebrate its undoubted success, impact and feel-good sound in a brand-new UK tour. Of course, they’re playing the album in its entirety! They’re stopping at Bristol’s Thekla on 27 February 2019.
Though since The Crack’s release Ruts DC have gone onto produce a wealth of dub-infused sound, bassist John Jennings said: “A milestone to many, The Crack is an important piece of work to us too. We now feel ready to celebrate where we came from.”
Supporting the Ruts’ emotional affair is the recently reunited post-pistols legends The Professionals. Together, the artists will pay a worthy tribute to the iconic album and two of its much-missed creators: Malcolm Owen and Paul Fox. Don’t miss out!
