Both taking place in the expansive yet intimate Lloyds Amphitheatre, the two July gigs will act as a precursor to the biggest weekend on Bristol's summer calendar, the 2019 Harbour Festival. The shows form part of Colston Hall's 2019 programme which is utilising some of the city's best and most unique concert spaces while the venue itself undergoes a £48.8 million renovation.

Formed in 1980 from the ashes of the legendary band Joy Division, New Order's integration of electronic dance music into the British post-punk era made them one of the most critically acclaimed and well-loved bands of their time. Armed with a sound unlike any of their peers, the Manchester band won millions of fans in the UK and abroad with successful studio albums and huge single releases like the timeless Blue Monday.

The Specials, meanwhile, are celebrating 40 years since their infectious mix of danceable ska and punk attitudes captured the nation with a focussed and informed political message. Having enjoyed widespread success throughout their illustrious career, the band announced a huge 2019 tour to coincide with their anniversary celebrations and will be releasing a brand-new album, Encore, out on Friday 1st February alongside tickets for their Bristol gig.

Todd Wills, Artistic Director for Colston Hall, said "it's great to be bringing two legendary British bands into Bristol for the biggest weekend of the summer. The Specials and New Order are arguably two of the most iconic bands of their time, so to have them each playing a one-off show at the height of the Bristol summertime is going to be fantastic."

Tickets for New Order and The Specials live at the Lloyds Amphitheatre are on sale at 10am on Friday 1st February and can be found here. For more information on the shows or to find out what else is on the 2019 Colston Hall programme, visit their website or check out their Facebook page
