Details of Sophie Ellis-Bextor's 2019 UK & Ireland tour.

Best known for her greatest hits of the 2000s, Sophie Ellis-Bextor has carved out a reputation as an icon of modern British music over the years. From the huge 'Murder on the Dancefloor' to her part in Spiller's club classic 'Groovejet (If This Ain't Love)' in 2000, her voice and style are instantly recognisable.

The recently-announced 2019 tour will see Ellis-Bextor perform orchestral versions of her best-loved hits as well as a selection of the best tracks from her six full studio albums. The tour begins in Cambridge at the beginning of June before taking her and her orchestra to Nottingham, Birmingham, Brighton, Manchester, Edinburgh and, of course, Bristol. The final stop will be Dublin on Wednesday 13th.

Since the release of her debut album, 'Read My Lips' in 2001 which went on to sell over 2 million copies worldwide, Ellis-Bextor has had six UK Top 10 singles, including 'Take Me Home' and 'Get Over You'

She has incorporated several genres over the course of her career, from her debut through to 2014’s Wanderlust, which fused elements of folk, baroque and orchestral music. The album was certified Gold and spawned the hit single “Young Blood”, which will be performed on the tour. The basis for the 2019 shows will be arrangements stemming from her latest project, an Orchestral Greatest Hits album which is due for release early in the year.

Speaking on the tour announcement, Ellis-Bextor said "It’s so exciting to be performing hits from my entire career with full orchestral arrangements for the first time! This is a bit of a dream come true. I’m especially delighted that I get to do some proper full-on live disco with strings. It’s going to be really special!”

Tickets for Sophie Ellis-Bextor live with a full orchestra at Bristol's St George's Hall on Wednesday 5th June are on sale from 9am on Friday 28th September 2018 and can be found here. For more information or to follow tour updates, visit her official website or check out her Facebook page.
