Wildlife Photographer of the Year 2021 is coming to the M Shed this month

The annual international wildlife photography competition is back in Bristol between 27 November 2021 and 5 June 2022.

 

With a brand-new collection of beautiful images, visitors will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in some of the best photography and photojournalism from around the world.

Now in its 57th year, Wildlife Photographer of the Year is the world’s most prestigious photography event of its kind, exhibiting the most amazing natural spectacles from around the world.

 

Established in 1965 with a mere 361 entries, today the competition receives 49,000 entries from a wide range of countries. Developed and produced by the National History Museum since 1984, each image is selected by a prestigious panel of experts for their creativity, originality, and technical excellence.

 

This year’s winning image, ‘Creation’, was taken by Laurent Ballesta of France and captures the occasional spectacle of camouflage groupers leaving a mating frenzy that takes place once a year under a full moon.

 

Tickets to see the selection of beautiful photographs are £7 for adults, £5 for concessions and free for under 16s. It’s 50% off adult entry for students and 16-24 year-olds. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets can be purchased from the M Shed website.

 

The M Shed is located on Bristol’s historic harbourside, a mere 10 minute walk from the City Centre and a 20 minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads.
