Wild Owl Prowl at Arnos Vale Cemetery this Saturday evening

Posted on: 20 Sep 2017

Experience an enchanted evening of owl spotting with Arnos Vale Cemetery's Wild Owl Prowl on Saturday 23rd September 2017.

Guided by wild owl expert Ian McGuire, you'll be able to take a night time trek through the cemetery and keep a beady eye out for these beautiful, majestic creatures soaring across the city's evening skyline. Practising your own owl calls and 'twit-twooos' is not obligatory but positively encouraged.

Tawny owls use a special call at dusk to mark their territories and keep other owls away, and it's precisely that behaviour the owl prowl will take advantage of so you can experience the cemetery's resident beaky, feathered friends flying across the night sky. You'll also get to learn how these generally solitary, nocturnal birds of prey survive and their habits and skills.

This beguiling evening of bird watching runs from 7pm-8.30pm. As it takes place in the dark you should bring a torch and sensible shoes and warm, waterproof attire is strongly recommended. Four-legged canine companions are not allowed on the tour as they can scare the owls off.

The event costs £10 and tickets can be purchased here.
