The Great Aarty Party at M Shed in Bristol on Sunday 4 September 2016

Posted on: 02 Sep 2016

Put on your party hat and join in the celebrations for the 40th birthday of Bristol's world-famous Aardman Animations this weekend at M Shed for its Great Aarty Party on Sunday 4 September 2016.

From 11am to 3pm the whole family will be able to take part in loads of fun, arty activities such as creating your own version of that iconic claymation legend Morph, as well as plenty of opportunities to show off your doodling artistic skills.

Now in its fourth decade, Aardman has established itself as one of the most eminent, popular and successful animation studios in the world, creating independent films, broadcasting and advertising spots, having racked up ten Oscar nominations and winning four. Headed up by Peter Lord, David Sproxton and Nick Park, Aardman's charming animated mix of humour, storytelling and craftsmanship has seen them create the likes of Morph (initially making regular cameos on the children's programme Take Hart), Creature Comforts, Wallace and Gromit, Shaun the Sheep, Angry Kid, Chicken Run an The Pirates! An Adventure with Scientists.

Gromit Unleashed and Shaun in the City - which sees colourful, decorated models of the eponymous heroes dotted around the city - is immensely popular, attracting people not just in Bristol but from all over the world, while their charity work through  Wallace and Gromit's Grand Appeal has helped raise millions of pounds for Bristol Children's Hospital.

So don't be a party pooper and head on down to M Shed this weekend to take part in the magnificent celebrations of Bristol's very own animated global phenomenon that is Aardman Animations. Entry is free, just pay what you like.
