The Bristol Pound Turns 4 And You Can Get £10 Free At Make Sunday Special

Posted on: 12 Sep 2016

Bristol Pound will be celebrating their fourth birthday at the Make Sunday Special event outside St Nicholas Market on Sunday 18 September with a huge cake, bunting, party hats and £10 worth of free Bristol Pounds.

The Bristol Pound is aimed at keeping things local. It celebrates all that makes the city great. It's a viable currency that can be used in all manner of places around the city and probably a good few places you wouldn't have thought of! Check out more info right here Bristolpound.org

Visit the Bristol Pound party stall on Corn Street, chat about the scheme and get a free slice of cake. What’s more, the first 50 people signing up for an account on the day will receive a £B5 (5 Bristol Pound) paper note on the spot! That’s not all, if you log in to your new Bristol Pound online account you get another £B5!

Ruby Szarowicz, Membership Manager at the Bristol Pound explains: “We want more people in the city to experience local money and learn about what using a local currency can do for Bristol, and for the world. There are people who know about the currency and have it on their to do list to get signed up and stuck in, but need that extra nudge to get the account open and start changing money. We are giving away £B10 as a live demonstration to help you get started.”

Once signed up with an account you can start changing sterling into Bristol Pounds regularly and then set up regular payments for things like council tax and energy bills. To sign up for an account you’ll need to bring two pieces of ID:

-Photo ID - a passport or driving license
-Proof of address: a utility bill, a bank statement, a council tax bill dated within the last three months. (Please note this needs to be the original copy)

Remember, this offer is only available to the first 50 people so make sure to get down there early!
