Street Goat Bristol - Fundraising show, feast and ceilidh | Saturday 13th May 2017

Posted on: 27 Apr 2017

Street Goat is a community urban farming project based in Bristol. On Saturday 13th May 2017 they are holding a huge event at All Hallows Hall that includes a theatre show, feast and finally a ceilidh.

The evening serves as both a fundraiser and a celebration of all the great work done so far. Street Goat is an amazing initiative and something really enriches the already superb community spirit in Bristol. The event will run as follows...

5-7pm: A performance of Three Acres and A Cow - a radical history of UK land rights and protest told through folk song. If you've not seen this before prepare to have your mind blown. Part TED talk, part history lecture, part folk club sing-a-long, part poetry slam, part storytelling session… These are the stories of generation.

7-8pm: A feast serving some of the products of our butchery courses, some of the cheese they've been making and a huge selection of locally produced salads, garlic mushrooms... maybe even some wine made from the grapes on the Street Goat site.

8pm - Midnight: A MASSIVE CEILIDH! Legendary local ceilidh band Fitty Gomash will provide 3 hours of wild and rambunctious spinning, twirling, stomping and romping.

"We have a small dairy herd that is managed by a collective of milkers who share the costs, responsibilities and the milk. We make cheese and yogurt in the summer months and try to source as much feed as possible on-site, locally and from waste streams.

"The meat side of the enterprise takes the males of dairy herds and grazes them on overgrown land. We clear allotments such that they can be let for vegetable growing, and we graze on nature reserves that are becoming overgrown with ivy and bramble. We then run courses on butchery and hide tanning and aim to use the whole animal with respect." Street Goat

Tickets are available for each part of the evening or all 3! It's £7 for the ceilidh only, £10 for the show only, or £20 for both plus the feast. Tickets can be purchased here.
