Stomp for Cancer with Penny Brohn on 23rd September

Posted on: 01 Aug 2017

The first-ever Stomp for Cancer across Bristol is happening on Saturday, September 23, to support people and mark a pretty big milestone. Penny Brohn UK’s event, for all ages and abilities, moseys from Millennium Square at 10am, under Brunel’s iconic suspension bridge and along the Avon Gorge to the charity’s National Centre, Pill.

The six-mile stomp will help mark the 10th anniversary of royal patron The Prince of Wales officially opening the Centre, formerly Ham Green House. Penny Brohn community fundraiser Ian Riddell said:

“We are extremely proud to launch the stomp and hope everyone’s inspired to join us. Every step will help Penny Brohn continue to support people every step of their cancer journeys."

“Stompers will follow The Chocolate Path and River Avon Towpath, enjoy incredible views of Brunel’s beautiful bridge and end at our historic HQ. The event commemorates 10 years since Prince Charles officially opened the building and a group trekked a similar path to celebrate. We’d love to see families join us – even the smallest steps will help us make big strides.”

The Prince of Wales officially opened the UK’s leading holistic cancer charity’s Centre on July 18, 2007. With over 36 years’ experience, Penny Brohn understands that cancer impacts everything and the number affected is increasing.

Its Bristol Whole Life Approach supports people with cancer and close supporters to participate in their health and wellbeing, and find the resources to thrive, before, during and after treatment. It explores areas such as diet, exercise, relationships and managing stress, through free courses, one-to-one therapies, groups, a Treatment Support Clinic and national helpline.

Adult registration costs £10, children aged 12 and under are £5, and people are encouraged to raise as much as possible.

Raising:

£75 sees you entered into a draw for a family-of-four day out.

£120 and you will also get a Penny Brohn badge.

£150-plus means you will be entered into the draw, and one for a meal-for-four at a top Bristol restaurant, receive a badge and special edition fundraising superstar T-shirt.

All stompers receive a free fundraising pack, including personalised T-shirt and sponsorship forms, water, snacks and coach back to Millennium Square.
