Spike Island announces spring exhibitions in Bristol

The gallery will house solo exhibitions by Andrea Luka Zimmerman and Giles Round as part of their new season which opens on the 8th April and runs until the 18th June.

Spike Island has announced details of the shows they will exhibit this spring, with a double-header of solo exhibitions from Andrea Luka Zimmerman and Giles Round set to open on 8th April.

Common Ground, the first UK solo exhibition from celebrated filmmaker Andrea Luka Zimmerman explores the idea of community, whilst proposing new methods for communal living. Centring around Estate, a Reverie (see still, above), her 2015 essay film about the closure of the Haggerton Estate in East London, the exhibition explores the complex relationships between people and the conditions they occupy.

For Giles Round’s latest offering, They bow. Curtain. No applause. (above), the artist alters Spike Island’s gallery space by teasing out its theatricality. Drawing from his extensive experience of working with myriad media, Round engages with a number of disciplines to look at the way in which art, design and functionality interact.

Both exhibitions will run from the 8th April to the 18th June. For more information head to www.spikeisland.org.uk.
