Southville pub The Coronation to host massive street party this month

Posted on: 15 Jul 2022

The much-loved South Bristol pub, known for its cosy atmosphere and affordable pints, have organised the all-day party with music, food, drinks and dancing all planned.

The inaugural ‘Kingston Road Street Party’ is set to take place throughout the day on Saturday 23 July.

A staple of the South of the river beer scene, The Coronation is somewhat of a hidden gem within the wider Bristol community and have recently expanded, erecting some decking to make space for outdoor seating.

Taking place next weekend, Kingston Road Street Party will feature free live music and entertainment throughout the day with food (in the shape of The Coronation’s famous vegan chow) and drink served from two outdoor bars – as well as the pub’s main bar.

Kicking off the busy schedule is children’s act Captain Barnacle between 12:00 and 14:00. The swashbuckling pirate hero has been performing at children’s parties and festivals for over 15 years and is sure to bring plenty of laughs to the occasion.

The musical contingent thus far is an eclectic one, featuring newcomer MLY, community samba collective Batala Samba Band, local indie rock mainstays Belishas and Southbank regulars The Balkany Band are just the beginning with more acts still to be announced.

Following the live music (from 22:00 onwards), The Coronation will be going full-on festival vibes with a silent disco. Headphone hire is £4 a pop.

The Coronation is located at 18 Dean Lane, BS3 1DD, a mere five-minute walk from both North Street’s plethora of pubs and cafes as well as the high-quality restaurants and eateries of Wapping Wharf.

In addition to boasting a surprisingly cheap food and drinks menu (including a roast dinner), the pub runs a busy schedule of regular activities. Every Monday they host a popular quiz boasting a range of prizes, attendees are required to message in advance to book a table.

There is also a regular Saturday pottery workshop, ‘Pot Heads at The Pub’, that takes place at the watering hole every Saturday afternoon. These workshops have limited availability so find out more here.
