Return of The King(ston): The Coronation pub street party is back
Posted on: 18 Jun 2024Returning for the third year in a row, the Kingston Road street party is back to grace the streets (or street) of Southville this coming Saturday.
The Coronation is a legend in Bristol’s pub scene – famously cheap, despite having a consistently excellent stable of both local craft and import beers & ciders, the Corrie (as it’s affectionately known) is a friendly & fiercely independent local boozer for the residents of Southville, and known for top pub quizzes. Every year, the Corrie put that events expertise to the test, with a massive free street party on their resident road, Kingston Road – and it’s back again this year, 22 June.
The street party is totally free, and features music & entertainment all day. Kicking things off will be a swashbuckling pirate puppet show from Captain Barnacle – perfect entertainment for children (and the young-at-heart adults with them!) early in the day. Following on will be an afternoon of acoustic acts and jazz – with both samba and full bands to cap things off. The evening will wrap up with the street party’s iconic silent disco – with resident “quiz master DJ” Skateyjake at the helm, who has previously DJ’d at major festivals like We Out Here.
It should go without saying that the Coronation will be serving drinks throughout the event, including a special outside festival bar, at their usual unbelievable prices – and should all those drinks make you hungry, you’ll be pleased to hear that Casa Latina will be in attendance with their classic, delicious Latin American flavours.
So, save the date: this weekend, Saturday 22 June, is the Kingston Road Summer Street Party – a free event packed with music, food, and booze! For more information on the street party, head to the Facebook event, or just check out The Coronation itself on Facebook.
