Parkrun announce new circuit in central Bristol
Posted on: 12 Jul 2017The company, who organise free, monitored 5k runs every Saturday morning in cities nationwide, have announced plans for a new course in Bristol’s Eastville Park which should commence in autumn.
Ever since the Parkrun in nearby Little Stoke was discontinued by the parish council last year, organisers have been on the lookout for a new circuit in Bristol – and appear to have made a significant breakthrough.
A new 5km course has been confirmed in Eastville Park (pictured below), with the first starter’s set to sound at some point in the autumn. The location is proven to work well, with a junior run already occurring in the same place and attracting 30-50 youngsters every Sunday morning.
Parkrun is a volunteer-led organisation which hosts 5km runs at various locations around the UK, which take place at 9am every Saturday morning. Three runs are already on the go in Bristol at Pomphrey Hill, Chipping Sodbury and Ashton Court, with over 17,000 runners registered for the latter.
The latest site at Eastville Park has been confirmed after long-running talks with Bristol City Council. Parkrun are now seeking volunteers to help turn the run into a reality.
