Missed out on Glastonbury this year? Not to worry – there’s another option.
Posted on: 25 Jun 2024Glastonbury 2024 is fast approaching and if you’re not one of the chosen few heading up this year, you might be risking serious case of FOMO – but have no fear: Erratic Batting have you sorted.
Glasto Not Glasto 2024 takes place this Saturday, 29 June.
Erratic Batting are an event promoters who describe themselves as delivering “oddball gigs & weirdo clubnights” – and who have, for the last few years, had a summer mission: defeat Glastonbury. Their annual “Glasto Not Glasto” event is designed to pack a fun-filled punch of music and party ecstasy for all those who missed out on Glastonbury each year (or are just choosing not to go).
The multi-genre mini-festival is split in two with an action-packed ‘By Day’ programme full of lovely post-punk, goth dirge, industrial, avant-garde hip-hop and rhythmic electronic, and a ‘By Night’ lineup featuring sets from Exodus Records’ BRUK, and an eclectic mix of everything from jungle, to disco, cumbia and more.
The ‘By Day’ programme kicks off in Crofters’ Pyramid Room with brain-melting yet danceable post-hardcore sonics Rothmans, who’ll be joined by murky goth dirge & electric blues outfit Gloom Index, and two-piece Bristolian rockers Downward - who promise to bring “punshing” distorted riffs and math-slam drumming.
The Other Room will see Max Kelan take to the stage to deliver pure, raw, and unhinged industrial – along with avant-garde hip-hop crew Cold Light Collective, who’ll bring an enigmatic and transcendent energy to the show. Finally, the Other Room will also play host to M.L Deathman, purveyors of “rusted rhythmic electronics”, and hazy droning for a new and apocalyptic world.
The ‘By Night’ programme will host the innovative Jungle & Hardcore DJ BRUK – also known as a resident of Exodus Records, and the head of raving party-starters KURB. Joining BRUK is good vibes merchant Adeevah – armed with Ballroom, Vogue, UK Funky & Bailie Funk, she’s guaranteed to get you moving.
Finally, By Night will also feature the rulers of Erratic Batting, Swan Hips & Nathan Worm – flooding Crofters with a mindbending mix of music from across the world, from dancehall, to cumbia, to African disco, southeast-Asian psychadelic and “weirdo European electronic bits”.
Finally, the event will also feature a free entry bar stage, the acts for which are yet to be announced.
