International icon Billy Ocean is back singing his greatest hits & fan favourites

Returning with his ‘The Very Best of Billy Ocean’ tour, the veteran hitmaker is celebrating the 40th anniversary of his celebrated album, Suddenly.

 

Billy Ocean will play Bristol Beacon’s Beacon Hall on Wednesday 11 June 2025.

 

Known for smash hits such as ‘Caribbean Queen’, ‘When the Going Gets Tough’ and ‘Get Outta My Dreams’, Ocean won a Grammy for Best Male R&B Performance in the 80s. After some time out of the spotlight, Ocean’s reputation flourished again in recent times with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the MOBOs, a return to the charts and an MBE.

Born in Trinidad, Bill Ocean settled in London’ when he was just 7. Calypso crazy in his youth, he soon got turned into soul singers like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding as well as pop groups like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. His break came through GTO Records with his second single, ‘Love Really Hurts Without You’ reaching number 2 in the UK!

 

Two top twenty singles followed before ‘Red Light Spells Danger’ became a smash hit on both sides of the pond. Billy’s change to Jive Records proved an instant success with the million-selling single ‘Caribbean Queen’ winning Grammy! Suddenly (1984) went double platinum in the US and the next year Billy performed at the American half of Live Aid.

 

This whirlwind run of hits continued for a few years before Billy decided to take a break. He returned in 2007 with a smash hit run of dates before returning to the studio the following year and he hasn’t let up since, releasing multiple albums and touring relentlessly – including a sell-out date at The Royal Albert Hall!
