Fairtrade Celebration at The New Room in Bristol on Saturday 3rd March 2018

Posted on: 21 Feb 2018

Coffee is big business - and at Fairtrade Celebration at The New Room, John Wesley's Chapel in Bristol you'll be able to see how the Fairtrade movement has dramatically changed the lives of developing world coffee and cocoa farmers at a special event on Saturday 3rd March 2018.

Held in conjunction with Fairtrade Fortnight, Fairtrade Celebration will demonstrate the work of the farmers who grow our food and illustrate ways in which we can further support them on a daily basis.

Urania, a producer from Nicaragua, will be sharing her own story first-hand of how Fairtrade - which promotes better working conditions, sensible prices and fairer deals for developing country workers - has helped her immensely in her daily working life.

There will be plenty of free samples for you to sip, as well as a Shop Fairtrade pop-up market place in the chapel from 10.30am to 4pm. The New Room's cafe will also be putting on Eat Fairtrade with its Fairtrade Taster Platter which will include a tempting selection of cake mini-bites and fruit salad, including a Fairtrade hot drink, for a fiver - this can be pre-ordered by emailing cafe@newroombristol.org.uk.

A variety of short films will be running throughout the day and there will be a guest speaker at 2pm.

The event is free with donations welcome. For more information about this and other events at The New Room, head here.
