Posted on: 30 Aug 2018You'd be batty to miss this one - an Evening Bat Walk at South Purdown which will bring you into direct contact with those most fascinating of winged nocturnal creatures and which takes place on Friday 31st August 2018.
From 7.30pm to 9.30pm and dutifully armed with bat echolocators, you'll perambulate the fields and hedgerows of Purdown to track down these most incredible and mysterious of nighttime creatures.
As you amble along you'll learn plenty of interesting facts including exactly how bats can see in the dark (I always thought it was all the carrots they ate), their particular culinary preferences, and why South Purdown has become something of a bat magnet, drawing a variety of the species to the area.
This brilliant bat stroll is suitable for all ages and, because there's naturally plenty of walking involved, it's advisable to don solid footwear - and some food, drink and a torch might also be a wise idea too. Spaces are limited, dished out on a first-come-first-served basis and can only be booked in advance. The meeting point will be at the Old Library on Muller Road, Bristol BS5 6XP.
