Bristol Roller Derby to host double header home game on Saturday 27 April 2019

Posted on: 15 Apr 2019

Get your skates on: Bristol Roller Derby is hosting a double-header game this month and you’re invited! On Saturday 27 April, spectate one of the UK’s fastest growing sports with some of Bristol’s finest players.

Want to do something a little different this Easter? Why not support one of Bristol’s most exciting sports? The Bristol Roller Derby (yep, there’s skates involved) will be hosting teams from across the UK in a jam-packed day of roller raucousness.

So, who’s playing? Bristol Roller Derby (BRD) Women’s B Team will take on Southampton City Rollers, and BRD’s Men’s Team will be up against Gents In Pink, a team made up of members from across the country. Who’s expected to win? We’ll just say this: despite being entirely not-for-profit, the Bristol Women’s A team ranks in Europe’s top 40!

But wait… Roller-blading is a sport? Well, not quite. Roller Derby is a fast-pasted, full-contact sport played on a track by two teams on quad roller skates. It’s one of the UK’s fastest growing sports! It combines features from Rugby, American Football and of course, the grace of roller blade-mastery.

The event will take place at Wellsway Sports Centre in Keynsham from 1 pm. Tickets are priced at just £5. Bringing a friend? You can grab two advance tickets for just £8! Children under 12 go free, of course. You can get an advance ticket here: just search ‘roller derby’ on the homepage.

So, what are you waiting for? Head down to support Bristol Roller Derby in this novel sporting occasion! Find out more about the team here. Wellsway School Sports Centre is located: Keynsham, Bristol, BS31 1HH.
