Bristol named UK's greenest city

Bristol’s latest accolade places it as the most environmentally friendly city in the country, as found by property company Good Move.

As Kermit the Frog once wisely intoned, it’s not that easy being green. It is, however, massively important and will prove to be massively rewarding, and, ultimately, more than worth the effort put in.

Collectively, the people of Bristol put in more effort than most in the pursuit of environmental health – an asset attested to in the city’s latest accolade. New research, conducted by property company Good Move, has concluded that Bristol is the most environmentally friendly city in the UK.

Beating Edinburgh and Glasgow into second and third places respectively, Bristol was commended for scoring well in the five criteria on which the ranking was based: carbon emissions, recycling, green space, gas consumption and Green Party seats.

Good Move’s top 10 most environmentally friendly cities are as follows:

  1. Bristol
  2. Glasgow
  3. Edinburgh
  4. Greater London
  5. Sheffield
  6. Bradford
  7. Manchester
  8. Leeds
  9. Liverpool
  10. Birmingham
