Bristol Harbour Festival announce more stages - including brand new stage

Posted on: 29 May 2024

Bristol Harbour Festival is back in just over a month, sailing into port on July 19, and they’ve just announced their second wave of performance areas – including a brand new stage.

This year, Bristol Harbour Festival will see a celebration of new and emerging (or should that be ‘surfacing’?) talent, as they announce a brand new stage for Queen Square – the Bristol Rising Stage. Programmed by Access Creative College and dBs Institute, the stage will play host both to students from the partner organisations, and unaffiliated up-and-comers from around Bristol.

From Bristol-based singer Marns bringing soulful sounds, to four-piece band LAKEDOWN’s indie rock, the line-up will introduce a varied sound to the festival while shining a light on Bristol's up and coming talents.

The Harbour Festival have also announced the return of the much-loved Dance Tent to Queen Square, produced by the Trinity Centre in collaboration with award-winning pro-diversity dance company Movema. Look out for the queer DJ night takeover the space on Saturday 20th, with local LGBTQ+ collective, Booty Bass, taking over the decks.

The Harbour Festival have also announced a set by Bristol vocalist and multi-genre artist Eva Lazarus (hot off a celebrated Love Saves set) for Greenpeace’s Harbour View line-up, alongside Bristol-based hip-hop artist Nat Oaks and American indie band Langkamer.

Finally, as if all that wasn’t enough, The Harbour Festival will be extending its tentacles into the city with the brand new Fringe Festival, which will see artists, musicians and performers showcase their unique talent in the city's spaces – widening the programme beyond the footprint of the main festival. If you’re interested in being one of those artists and performers, head to their website.

The Harbour Festival is set to open officially on Friday 19 July with a performance from former fireboat The Pyronaut, as well as the festival’s signature cardboard boat race (cardboat race?) and Dragon Boat Racing, steamboat processions and a very special flotilla to close the show on Sunday 21 July.
