Posted on: 31 Oct 2019

Bristol Baseball Club has started its search for new squad members as they gear up for the start of a brand-new British Baseball Federation campaign.

The club is encouraging anyone with an interest in the sport to attend one of two introductory sessions taking place in December. There are currently three active sides looking for new players; the Bristol Badgers, who play in the national league, the Bats, and the Buccaneers.

The first of two open sessions will be taking place from 10:00 until 12:00 on Saturday 7 December at Badminton School on Westbury Road, with the second running from 11:00 until 13:00 on Sunday 15 December at Wellsway School in Keynsham.

The sessions, open to anyone over the age of 11, cost £5 per person and will be run by the club's managers and coaching staff. Players of all abilities and are welcome.

Founded in 2008, Bristol Baseball Club enjoyed its most successful season to date in 2019. Their main side, the Badgers, reached the final of the BBF AA national championships, while the Buccaneers were just one win away from their final, and the Bats came out on top of the North Division.

Speaking to the Bristol Post, Club Chairman Richard Evans emphasised the importance of the introductory training sessions when it comes to discovering new talent ahead of a new season:

"Last year we were able to set up a development team made up of people who were new to the sport, and it was amazing to see just how much they grew as players."
