Bridging The Gap high-wire stunt in Hotwells in Bristol on Saturday 24 January 2015

Posted on: 19 Jan 2015

Bridging The Gap is a daring high-wire stunt which will open Bristol's European Green Capital ceremony in thrilling fashion on Saturday 24 January 2015.

The Cirque Bijou have worked with Jade Kindar Martin and Karine Mauffrey to create this daring, breathtaking performance in the heart of Hotwells.

Jade Kindar Martin is a world famous tight wire artist, and her newest stunt will be this 120metre long cycle ride across a highwire set between two landmark buildings. Hollywood stuntwoman Karine Mauffrey will add to the overall spectacle by performing an incredible aerial trapeze routine from underneath the bicycle, 27 metres above the ground.

Opening the event, a light projection show with a musical score composed by Dom Coyote will illuminate the warehouse buildings. This beautiful performance is intended to show the difference between our green intentions as a city and our actions – Bridging the gap is something we must all do in order to live more sustainably.

This event is free of charge and will take place at 7pm on the 24th January, between the A Bond warehouse on Smeaton Road, Hotwells, and the CREATE centre opposite.

Recommended vantage points include Greville Smyth Park, Ashton Road and the Cumberland Basin, Hotwells.
