Beans on Toast at Attic Bar in Bristol on Saturday 4 February 2017

Posted on: 11 Jan 2017

Legendary 'drunk folk' singer Beans on Toast will tread the boards and put on a show that's bound to be one of the gig highlights of the year when he performs at Attic Bar in Bristol on Saturday 4 February 2017.

The guitar-strumming folk cult legend - real name, Jay McAllister - has 8 studio albums to his name, the latest of which is the brilliant A Spanner in the Works.

Like other folk heroes Billy Bragg and Frank Turner, Beans on Toast accompanies the deftly handled strains of his acoustic guitar with lyrics that are equally poignant, pertinent, hilarious, truthful, raw and honest, and there's very often a simple, understated beauty amidst the barbed insights and pithy observations.

From fracking to friendships, riots to romance, popcorn to Prince Harry, Beans on Toast is a singer, storyteller and guitarist who can turn his hand to any subject and pierce the very heart of it with a quick wit and irrepressible truthfulness.

Always a fun, unpredictable show in which his self-deprecating charm and frequent banter with the audience create a combined sense of relaxed equality and oneness, his gig at Attic Bar is sure be packed to the rafters with the artist's loyal fans and those just looking for a good night out in the company of a supremely talented, warm, witty singing wordsmith.

Check out some of his songs on his official You Tube page

Entry is a steal at £3, doors open at 8.30pm and the gig will run until 2am. Support will come in the form of Bristol-based singer/songwriter Lori Campbell and DJ Dad.
