Arcadia in Bristol. A 2015 highlight for the city.

Posted on: 16 Jul 2015

The iconic ‘giant spider’ descends on Bristol’s Queen Square, Friday 4th and Saturday 5th September, with tickets selling fast.

The superlatives don’t yet exist to adequately describe this breathtaking, ground-breaking performance. Arcadia Spectacular and their world-famous mechanical spider, built in Bristol from 50 tonnes of recycled military hardware, are set for their first ever city centre event. The new ‘Metamorphosis' show is being brought to Bristol as part of the city’s year as European Green Capital. It will see the conversion of Arcadia’s signature flames to biofuel – creating the world’s first recycled fuel pyrotechnics system.

Fusing innovative music, circus, sculpture, special effects, pyrotechnics and more, the full line up has now been confirmed…and what a line up is. Vital in order to compete for your attention with the Brobdingnagian mechanical giant writhing overhead, the assembled masses will be treated to:

Friday 4th September:

Roni Size Reprazent - Live

Leftfield - DJ Set

Congo Natty ft Congo Dubz and Tenor Fly

Saturday 5th September:

Annie Mac

Eats Everything

Monki

Gotsome

Bristol has played such a large role in the development and evolution of Arcadia that it was the only logical choice for such a spectacular event. It is hoped that this will be a memorable moment in the city’s life that celebrates its community and the inspirational possibilities of what can be done with the world’s waste. Arcadia have worked closely with Bristol 2015 - European Green Capital, who are supporting the conversion of Arcadia’s signature flames to recycled biofuel.
