A whip crackin’ musical classic is coming to Bristol in 2025
Posted on: 19 Jun 2024Gosh, almighty! Grab yourself a posse because the musical comedy classic Calamity Jane is a-rollin’ on over the plains to theatres all over the UK and Ireland.
Calamity Jane runs at The Bristol Hippodrome from Tuesday 23 until Saturday 27 September 2025.
Based on the much-loved 1953 movie starring Doris Day and Howard Keel, this plumb fancy new production will star the multi-award-winning West End actor and singer Carrie Hope Fletcher (Cinderella, Les Misérables) will begin its tour of the UK and Ireland in January next year.

In this wild production, audiences will meet the fearless, gun slingin’ Calamity Jane, the biggest mouth in Dakota and always up for a fight. Don’t be fooled, she’ll charm you hog eyed, especially when trying to win the heart of the dashing Lieutenant Gilmartin or shooting insults at the notorious Wild Bill Hickock.
However, when the men of her hometown Deadwood fall hard and fast for star of the Chicago stage, Adelaide Adams, Calamity finds it hard to keep her jealousy in its holster. Her heart’s a thumpin’… but who for?
This production of Calamity Jane from The Watermill Theatre features direction from Nikolai Foster, co-direction and choreography by Nick Winston and musical supervision from Olivier, Grammy and Tony Award winner Catherine Jayes.
