Bristol City v Coventry City at Ashton Gate on 22 February 2022

Catch Bristol City v Coventry City at Ashton Gate Stadium in this EFL Championship fixture on 22 February 2022. Kickoff is at 19:45PM.

After a promising upturn in results for the Robins, the mood around Ashton Gate is gradually improving and their is a quiet optimism setting in at BS3; Pearson will be happy with what he's seen from his youthful side in a season that was always going to be transitional. Coventry have been one of the feel-good stories of the Championship season so far with Robins being touted for a 'bigger' job at some point and on-loan centre forward, Viktor Gyökeres, stealing the headlines.

City will be hoping for their recently improved form to translate into a good result in this match after conceading six goals in their last two games against the Sky Blues. When the two sides met one another earlier in the season (6 November) Pearsons' team fell to a 3-2 defeat at the Ricoh Arena with Chris Martins' penalty giving the away side a 1-0 lead at half time before Matt Godden scored his own penalty early in the second half. Andreas Weimann managed to restore City's lead on the 68th minute but midfielder Callum O'Hare grabbed a winner soon after with the Robins unable to profit from Ian Maatsen's sending off just before full time.

Bristol City Football Club - The Robins

Bristol City Football Club, nicknamed ‘The Robins’, are currently playing their football in the EFL Championship, the second tier of English football. Their home ground is Ashton Gate Stadium and has recently been rebuilt, giving it a capacity of 27,000.

City go into the 2021/22 season under new manager Nigel Pearson aiming to improve on last season's disappointing 19th place finish that saw them tumble towards the relegation zone. The Robins have had a mixed start to the season and currently sit comfortably mid table. Pearson appears to have given the team a far more solid spine thanks to the signings of ex-Leicester midfielder Matty James and exciting young ball playing centre back Rob Atkinson.
