If you have not been for a Sunday Roast at the Hope & Anchor on Jacobs Wells Road in Bristol then make sure you do. We'll guarantee it will become one of your favourite destinations for when you need a treat on a Sunday.
The Hope & Anchor has a huge tiered beer garden behind it and whether summer or winter this place is extremely popular with both residents of and visitors to our great City of Bristol. Booking in advance is advised - Tel. 0117 9292987 - as they get very busy. Roasts are served from Noon until 6pm.
Two courses for £16, three courses for £19.50. Some choices may vary on the day or by season and the current Sunday Roast menu choices include:
Rare roasted topside of beef – £12.95 : 40-day hung, glazed in black treacle, cooked in rosemary & thyme, sourced from Hereford
Slow cooked belly of pork – £12.45 : Marinated in local cider, cooked atop a mire poix sourced from Gloucester
Chicken breast – £11.95 : Off the bone, served with homemade apple, pear & pine nut stuffing cooked with lemon & thyme?reared on the River Wye
Trinity of meats (£3 supplement for deal) – £14.95 : topside beef, belly pork and chicken thigh. Lush.
Winter vegetable filo parcel – £10.95 (v) : A concoction of swede, celeriac, sweet potato, butternut squash & spinach served with vegetarian trimmings and gravy
All roasts are served with a huge herb-encrusted homemade Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes, savoy cabbage cooked with bacon (omnivores only), al dente broccoli, honey and orange glazed carrots and some of the best tasting Gravy you will find in Bristol.
