There’s no one label which can clearly characterize Akala. As well as a critically-acclaimed musician; he is a poet, public speaker, journalist and political activist. And his accompanying his achievements? Endless.

Akala to tour his new book, Natives, in 2019

Last year, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Brighton. He was also voted the Best Hip Hop Act at the MOBO Awards in 2016. Published in The Guardian among others, his writing is respected widely. So if one thing is clear, it’s that over the past decade, Akala’s multidisciplinary efforts have made serious political waves.

But most crucially, 2018 saw Akala’s gripping commentaries on class and race come together in the release of his autobiography-cum-memoir: Natives. For 2019, he is touring the book’s conversations. He’s stopping at St George’s in Bristol on Monday, 18 March 2019!

Natives: Race & Class in the Ruins of the Empire is a Sunday Times Bestseller as well as Foyles’ Book of the Year 2018. The chance to see its author in-discussion is not to be missed!

Grab your tickets now. Tickets are priced at £14.06 including booking fee. The discussion will begin at 20:00 on Monday, 18 March 2019. St George's is located: Great George Street, Bristol, BS1 5RR.
