Celebrate Chinese New Year will a frivolous cornucopia of fine festivities at Eastgate Oriental City in Bristol on Saturday 9th February 2019.

 

Hot on the heels of the actual Chinese New Year date earlier in the week (Tuesday 5th February) and often referred to as the Spring Festival in modern China, this year is officially the Year of the Pig, marking the new moon which appears between 21st January and 20th February and the start of the Chinese calendar. 

Wai Yee Hong Chinese New Year in Bristol

The event is organised by Wai Yee Hong, a family-run Chinese Supermarket based in Bristol for almost 40 years. Manager, Allison Chow says: "We love to share our culture with everyone and the 'Spring Festival' is one of the biggest festivals in the calendar. We have been organising these celebrations for over 30 years, and are excited that so many people are interested Chinese New Year."
 

From 11am until 2pm, Eastgate Oriental City will celebrate in flamboyant style with an eye-popping display of traditional live firecrackers as well as a spot of kung fu, a lion dance, face painting and plenty of craft and street food stalls to enjoy a few delicious Oriental delights.
