Cult folk singer Beans on Toast to perform live at Thekla in February

The record has been tipped by some as his best yet, and he's now set to take it on the road alongside a full live band to play a string of UK shows through January and February 2019. Originally from Essex, Beans on Toast emerged from the UK's folk scene in the mid-2000s and has carved out something of a cult status in the years since. Covering a wide range of topics from late-night after parties to the complexities of politics with a trademark combination of humour and sincerity, his albums have received consistently positive reviews throughout his prolific musical career.
December 2018 saw the release of his landmark tenth studio album, A Bird In The Hand, produced alongside Ben Lovett of Mumford & Sons in the legendary Church Studios in London. Calling upon mutual friends for help on the project, Ben and Beans arranged a crack team of accomplished musicians including Mumford & Sons' live drummer Chris Mass and Dutch guitarist Christof van der Ven.
Drastic changes to Beans on Toast's personal life are reflected in the album, most notably in the standout track Magic - a song about the birth of his daughter in 2018. An emotional account of what can usually be a difficult subject to articulate, Beans achieves it in textbook style without being crass or gushing.
He'll be performing alongside a full live band on board the Thekla boat on Saturday 16th February, the 15th stop on a 23-date UK leg of his 2019 tour. Tickets for this one are likely to sell out well in advance so book yours now via the link below to avoid missing out!
