Posted on: 30 Nov 2018

The Redgrave Theatre is one of Bristol’s most popular theatres hosting a wide variety of productions including operas, musicals, stand-up comedy, theatre and dance. See below for a full list of what's to come at The Redgrave Theatre this December.

Mrs Beeton Says - 06th December 2018

Mrs Beeton Says

Mrs Beeton’s Book of Household Management has been the trusty companion to generations of women and home-makers, offering advice on child care, animal husbandry and the management of servants as well as recipes galore.

The cherished Victorian values of cleanliness, thrift and hard work are all reflected in the book which many credits with helping shape the middle class identity of the age.

The play is the unexpected story behind the iconic figure that is Mrs Beeton and tells the tales of the many women she advised, supported and befriended.

The Tiger Who Came to Tea - 18th December 2018 - 21st December 2018

Come along to The Redgrave Theatre this December to hear the tale of The Tiger Who Came To Tea: the doorbell rings just as Sophie and her mummy are sitting down to tea. Who could it possibly be? What they certainly don’t expect to see at the door is a big, stripy tiger!

Join the tea-guzzling tiger in this delightful family show; packed with oodles of magic, sing-a-long songs and clumsy chaos! A stunning stage adaptation of the classic tale of teatime mayhem... expect to be surprised!

Mike Kelly's The Railway Children -  29th November 2018 - 13th December 2018

railway children

E Nesbit’s much-loved classic The Railway Children has delighted generations since its first publication in 1906, and Mike Kenny’s wonderfully faithful and imaginative adaptation has wowed audiences across the world, breaking box office records when performed at the National Railway Museum in York, and at Waterloo Station.

When Bobbie, Peter and Phyllis move to rural Yorkshire with their mother, following the imprisonment of their father, they leave their comfortable, safe existence to discover a world that is insecure and hard, but one that is filled with love, resilience and humanity. And always running through that world is the railway, in particular the 9.15 to London…

The Railway Children is a story of three children forced to face the anxieties and exhilarations of growing up in order to learn what really matters, a story of an Edwardian England on the brink of change, and, of course, a story of the Golden Age of Steam Railways.

Bristol Old Vic Theatre School is thrilled to be returning to the Redgrave Theatre to present this perfect Christmas treat – a tale of the extraordinary things that we can achieve when we all look out for each other.

Tickets for the above shows are still available at the time of writing, but may sell out in advance. We recommend that you book your tickets as early as possible via the links in the headings to avoid missing out! Head to The Redgrave Theatre's website for more information or to see what else is coming up in 2018.
