A night of classical anthems will echo around the walls of Bristol's majestic and imposing St Mary Redcliffe Church when Bristol Phoenix Choir presents its Sing for Joy! concert on Saturday 17th November 2018.

A joint collaboration between Bristol Phoenox Choir and Bristol Cathedral Consort, the programme will consist of anthems written by a wealth of composers, from Purcell to more contemporary tunesmiths.

Covering the gamut of anthemic emotion from happy to serious, joyful to introspective, the uniting musical aspect of all of them is that they're pieces of unforgettable, rapturous beauty.

Highlights of the anthemic itinerary will include Handel's Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened, Spirituals by Michael Tippett, and Song for Athene by John Taverner. Bristol composing lad David Bendnall will be represented by his composition, Ode on St Cecilia's Day.

An evening of transcendent musical splendour, tickets cost £12.50, £5 for students, and under 16s get in for free. You can find out more and get your tickets for Saturday's song fest here
