Bristol's Christmas Market from Friday 9th November to Sunday 23rd December 2018

Bristol's Christmas Market - that heady celebration of all things festive and a firm fave on the city's Crimbo calendar - returns in the run-up to Santa's arrival from Friday 9th November until Sunday 23rd December 2018.

Like the increasingly early, erm, advent of Christmas itself where spotting tinsel and baubles in July is no longer an unusual sight, so the Christmas Market has jumped in on the premature festive bandwagon, hitting the main stretch of Bristol's Shopping Quarter in early November.

Marvel at the usual line-up of wooden chalet-style stalls, gawp at the cornucopia of handmade delights, sweet treats, lip-smackingly delicious food, Fairtrade produce, quirky artisanal handmade crafts and original Christmas gift ideas. (Shiny, multi-coloured sparkly thing that spins from my ceiling? I'll take two please.)

Top of the list for most folk, however, will be the salivatingly sensational smorgasbord of epic food and drink which now comes as standard amidst the usual smattering of bric-a-brac and boutique products. Shopping's one thing but it's tricky if not impossible to survive it unless you're gorging on suspiciously large German sausages and getting merrily inebriated on pints of excellent German beer. For some, it's the only way to survive this overwhelming festive folly.

So yes, you'll get the reassuringly familiar combo (after all, what's the festive season all about if not tradition, eh?) of prezzie ideas, quality products, scrumptious food and eminently quaffable beverages, and a winningly ebullient and festively magical atmosphere.

Bristol's Christmas Market is located at Broadmead, Bristol, BS1 1UX.
