Peter's Mini will be waiting for participants at the Stomp for Penny Brohn finish line.

The family-friendly event takes place on Saturday 13 October and is open to all ages and abilities. The walk starts at Anchor Square in Bristol and follows the towpath alongside the Avon Gorge towards Penny Brohn UK’s beautiful National Centre in Pill. The event will culminate at the National Centre where walkers will be greeted with a farmers’ market, refreshments and entertainment. The farmers market will also be open to the public for everyone to enjoy.

Peter will be taking part in this year's Stomp in memory of his wife, Debbie, who sadly passed away after battling bowel cancer in 2013, and he'll be walking the six-mile route to raise money to help Penny Brohn UK support more people living with cancer. He is a member of Bristol St Andrews Bowls Club and has already raised over £250 in sponsorship from a three-day tour of the Isle of Wight in June.

As well as taking part in Stomp, Peter has been promoting the event using his 1991 Mini Cooper, known as his ‘Charity Car’. The Mini (pictured above) will be taking pride of place at Penny Brohn UK’s National Centre for Stompers to admire when they cross the finish line. Peter and his Mini are no strangers to fundraising; having driven from Bristol to Turin in 2011 to raise awareness of bowel cancer in an event organised by himself and Debbie.

Speaking on the event, Peter said “Penny Brohn UK supported Debbie during her illness. She gained a lot from the support she received from the charity and spending time with others who were going through the same thing. This October is the fifth anniversary of her passing so taking part in Stomp seemed a good way to mark it and raise money for such a good cause. The Mini means a lot to me as it gave us a different focus during Debbie’s illness and helped us deal with the situation.”
