Hari Ramakrishnan aka Pariah Khan, is the mastermind writer, producer and performer behind the hilarious one-man show. Directed by Manga Theatre’s Eduardo Gama, An Indian Abroad comes to the Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol from 31st October to 1st November 2018.

The British Indian performer tales the story of Krishnan, a middle class Indian native who journeys to Great Britain in seek of personal enlightenment. We in Britain are all-too-familiar with the trend of young people journeying to ‘find themselves’ in a land far, far away… Khan’s reversal of and new perspective on this social trope makes for a refreshing, hilarious and totally original show.

Critics are naming it “perfectly paced, charming and beautifully written” (Ruth Kapadia Arts Council England), telling that Khan is a “generous and hilarious writer and performer with a keen eye for detail and impeccable comic timing.” (Nikesh Shukla, Editor of The Good Immigrant).

Khan was named one of Bristol's most influential young people for his work in theatre and comedy. Last year, he was selected by Channel 4's Random Acts scheme, where 12 of the South West's most promising filmmakers are chosen to create their first broadcast quality film. Using this opportunity, he made the short film 'Slice' (a dark satire of the graduate experience).

He also works as professional wrestling manager on the British scene. His debut one-man show 'An Indian Abroad' has been awarded £15,000 from Arts Council England and is currently embarking on a tour to the Theatre Shop in Clevedon, the Bread and Roses Theatre in Clapham, The Wardrobe Theatre in Bristol, York Theatre Royal and Tara Arts theatre in Earlsfield. He has previously performed his work at Bristol Old Vic, Nuffield Southampton, Bike Shed Exeter, Camden People's Theatre and the Rose & Crown Theatre in London closing the London Pub Theatre Festival.
