275th Birthday Party at St Nick's Market on Friday 21st September 2018

Posted on: 17 Sep 2018

Can you believe that St Nick's Market is 275 years old? Well, believe it, peeps. And this Friday 21st September 2018 from 11.15am to 2pm, you can get in on the party spirit with a right royal roister to celebrate this legendary Bristol hotspot.

St Nick's Market Bristol

First opened on 21st September 1743, you can join in on all the fittingly exuberant birthday shenanigans. St Nick's houses the largest collection of independent retailers in the UK and won the coveted Britain's Best Large Indoor Market in 2016.

Split into three sections - Exchange Hall, Glass Arcade and Covered Market - it's a veritable cornucopia of irrepressible, typically Bristolian independent spirit in the form of unique shops, counterculture venues and, of course, loads of fabulous places to eat and drink. It's also home to the popular Bristol Farmers' Market, the Nails Market and Slow Food Market.

Festivities will begin when Lord Mayor Cleo Lake (not to be confused with old jazz legend, Cleo Lane) will ring the market bell to announce the party officially open and herald its 275th year of trading. Market resident and Wanted Records top man John Stapleton will liven up proceedings by spinning some groovy tuneage, while a birthday cake (naturally!) will be sliced at midday and served to the enthusiastic, salivating masses on a first-come-first-chomp basis.

As always, the usual plethora of traders will be open throughout the day plying their trade and selling their wares. A special 'St Nick's 275' project - collecting memories, stories, history and pictures which will be showcased at some point over the coming months - will also get its launch.

St Nick's Market is located at Corn Street, Bristol, BS1 1JQ.
