Heritage Walks with Trinity Community Arts on Sunday 16th September 2018Posted on: 11 Sep 2018
Learn more about the vibrant, divergent heritage and cultural importance of Old Market and the Trinity Centre as part of a Heritage Walk in conjunction with Trinity Community Arts on Sunday 16th September 2018.
Renowned historian and writer Dr Edson Burton will take you on an informative guided tour that will traverse a comprehensive journey through the area, past and present.
From its medieval market and thriving high street to its churches, cinema and music halls to its less salubrious red light district and now-popular gay quarter, you'll get in intriguing and often surprising insight into the cultural and societal shifts that have defined and shaped the area.
Part of the Heart & Soul programme of activities, workshops and events celebrating Trinity's heritage, the tour will run concurrently with Bristol Doors Open Day on Sunday 16th September with a focus on conserving and renovating the building.
Spaces are limited so it's advisable to book in advance, which you can do - as well as finding out more about the Heart & Soul project - here.
Trinity Centre is located at Trinity Rd, Bristol BS2 0NW. Tel. 0117 935 1200
Jamie is a writer, blogger, journalist, critic, film fan, soundtrack nerd and all-round Bristolian good egg. He loves the music of Philip Glass, the art of Salvador Dali, the writings of Charles Bukowksi and Hunter S Thompson, the irreverence of Harry Hill, and the timeless, straw-chomping exuberance of The Wurzels. You can sometimes find him railing against a surging tide of passing cyclists, or gorging himself senseless on the Oriental delights of a Cosmos all-you-can-eat buffet.
