Ahead of the move to Bristol, it's useful know of the best places to drink in the city. We've done the hard work for you and compiled a list of some great places that are scattered around both UWE and UOB territory. Check them out below:

 

The Apple

The Apple in Bristol

Nobody completes fist year without a trip to The Apple. A wonderful bar-boat docked on the water, selling lethal £1.50 half pints of 8% cider for students. With many cider options, it’s one of the best places to go for great atmosphere and even better prices.

 

 

The Sportsman

The Sportsman in Bristol

Located further afield, just off Gloucester Road, The Sportsman is a pub you absolutely have to visit. If not in first year, then definitely in second year as it is located near lots of student houses for UWE students. A proper pub atmosphere, they have 8 pool tables, with free pool on a Monday, dartboards and TVs showing all big sporting events. They also offer £5 student pizzas, rated some of the best in the city as they come stone baked with a choice of 4 toppings and lots of free extras!

 

 

The Anchor

The Anchor in Bristol

The Anchor is located just up the road from The Sportsman and is another fantastic pub for student deals. They offer £2 Carling on a Monday and Wing Wednesday isn't one to be missed - mini chicken wings at 25p a time with a solid selection of sauces to go with them. With nine TV and projector screens The Anchor is also one of the best spots in the area to catch sporting events.

 

 

The Lanes

The Lanes Bristol

This venue is one of the most unique in the city. Sat in the centre on Nelson St, it is a boutique bowling alley, bar and diner open all week long. Regular gigs and club nights are also on offer in addition to its five bowling lanes, karaoke room and pool tables.

 

 

Full Moon/Attic Bar

Full Moon and Attic Bar in Bristol

Located right next to the bear pit at the bottom of Stoke's Croft, Full Moon is a backpackers' hostel that doubles up as a bar/live music venue. A great place to go for a drink any time of the day, the bar is always rammed on weekends and hosts live music and DJ sets in the Attic Bar across its' courtyard. Especially good when the sun's out thanks to a huge outdoor area, Full Moon is a regular spot for students and locals alike who keep coming back for its' relaxed atmosphere and good prices.

 

 

Faraway and Flipside Cocktail Clubs

FCC in Bristol

In keeping with the relaxed, unstuffy party style of Flipside on Whiteladies Rd, Faraway Cocktail Club is its tropical sister located on Small Street. A party bar with regular DJs, where you can enjoy rum, tequila and mescal cocktails as well as a wide variety of delicious others! During the week they have an offer of 2 for £10.

 

 

The Volunteer Tavern

The Volunteer Tavern in Bristol

The Volly as it is informally named by residents of the city, is located just behind Marketgate halls in the centre. A real community atmosphere exists here and they have ever-changing food pop-ups. With a lovely beer garden in the back that’s heated during the winter months, even the most bitter of snow doesn’t stop regulars from having a cold pint here.

 

 

The Brass Pig

The Brass Pig in Bristol

This big bar is located just off the popular Park Street. One of the best student drinking holes in the city. With a dancefloor downstairs, it comes alive at night.

 

 

The Crofters Rights

The Crofters Rights in Bristol

An intimate but lively pub specialising in live music, craft beer and handmade pizzas, The Crofters Rights is situated at the core of Stokes Croft. The large back room is host to a multitude of events, with new acts presented almost daily. 

 

 

The Cat and Wheel

The Cat and Wheel in Bristol

Perfect for those who love a spot of karaoke. The Cat and Wheel is an old-school pub located by The Arches near to Stokes Croft. 

 

 

The Blue Lagoon

The Gallimaufry

The Gallimaufry Bristol

The Blue Lagoon's neighbour and another popular Gloucester Road bar, The Galli boasts a spacious outdoor seating area, perfect for watching the world go by when the sun's out. Another good spot to watch sport, it may not be one of the cheapest places on this list, but you can get Black Rat cider for £3 a pint. A fantastic space that is host to regular live music events spanning a range of genres. 

 

 

The Canteen

The Canteen Bristol

Located underneath the well-known community arts and dance space- Hamilton House, The Canteen encapsulates the wayward spirit of Stokes Croft. With regular live music events and fantastic food, it's a wonderful drinking hole.

 

 

The White Rabbit

The White Rabbit Bristol

The White Rabbit is a popular Clifton pub that serves mouth-watering pizza and beer. They host regular themed nights that are always a hit!

 

 

Brew House

The Brew House Bristol

This micro-brewery and pub that brew their own, unique craft beers on-site in their brew-tiful microbrewery! As well as matching every dish on the menu to a style of beer, they also love cooking with beer –so be sure to keep an eye out for recipes that make use of the beers that they brew.

 

 

No.51

No.51 Bristol

No.51 is another Stokes Croft resident, open until 3am most nights in the week, it's the go to place for mid-week evenings that spiral out of control. With DJs there every night, the atmosphere is always fun and lively. 

 

 

Mr Wolf's

Mr Wolf's Bristol

One of those places you never really think to go to but always have a good time at, Mr. Wolf's is a cult favourite among Bristol students. Not really known for a particular vibe, it attracts a fairly diverse crowd and is in a great location. As well as being one of the top bars in Bristol it also hosts live music regularly.

 

 

Bishops

Bishops Tav Bristol

This a simple, relaxed and traditional style pub which offers some really tasty and filling food. Students can often be seen here at the start of their bar crawl and the staff are known for being very friendly.

 

 

Arnolfini

Arnolfini Bristol

Arnolfini is a historical jewel in Bristol's artistic and cultural crown and represents one of the leading centres for contemporary arts in Europe. As well as this, they have an outside bar located right on the water of The Harbourside that is host to regular DJs. It's one of the best spots in the city for a drink without a doubt.

 

 

Cider Press

Cider Press Bristol

Gloucester Road is not shy of student friendly bars and this is another one of the top offerings. Having just undergone a refurbishment this summer, it’s known for being lively and and is a good choice of venue for watching sports. Cheap pints are fairly hard to come by along Gloucester Road but The Cider Press is arguably the most competitively priced in the area with a good range of beers and ciders that won't break the bank.

 

 

All Stars

All Stars Sports Bar Bristol

All Stars is a bar dedicated to all things sports. Sat opposite UOB, it's a firm favourite for the students. Able to show up to 9 events at any given time in HD and with all major sports channels, it's the go to place to watch all of the events. There are a whopping 4 full size Snooker tables, ?11 American Pool tables, 12 English Pool tables, a Boxing Machine,  ?5 Dart Boards with electronic scoreboards and 2 table Football.
