Kinky Boots, the story that takes audiences from the factory floor to the glamour of the Milan catwalk, has been dazzling London audiences throughout the Summer months and will go on the road from January 2019. Bristol's Hippodrome will become the show's temporary home from home around a month later, with ten shows scheduled from Monday 25th February-Saturday 9th March. Inspired by true events, Kinky Boots was originally created and released on the big screen in 2005 before being transformed into a hit Broadway musical years later. Directed and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray) and a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles) this striking musical proudly proves that sometimes the best way to fit in is to stand out!
The production tells the story of Charlie Price (played by Oliver Tompsett, previously of Wicked and We Will Rock You), who is struggling to live up to his father's expectations and continue the family business at Price & Son's shoe factory. With the factory's future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the form of Lola (Simon-Anthony Rhoden), a fabulous stage performer in need of some sturdy new boots.
Winner of an Oliver Award for Best New Musical in 2016, and scooping up pretty much every other major Best Musical Award going in the years since, Kinky Boots is a must-see for Bristol musical fans. Featuring songs written by pop icon Cyndi Lauper, the show is a fabulous celebration of the discovery of new friendships and the belief that you really can change the world when you change your mindset.
